  • 1 jar marinara sauce 24 oz
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage optional for extra flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ½ tsp black pepper freshly ground

  • Boil ziti pasta in salted water until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or sausage over medium heat. Add garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper, cooking for 1-2 minutes. Stir in marinara sauce and let simmer for 5 minutes.

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, ½ cup mozzarella, Parmesan, and egg. Stir well.
  • Layer half of the cooked ziti in the prepared baking dish. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the pasta, followed by half of the meat sauce. Repeat the layers.
  • Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
